Tales From The Road 2012 - PointFest - St. Louis,...
We had a morning lobby call of 10:30am, which wasn’t too bad considering I didn’t have a long night.  I woke up more refreshed and a little less jet lagged.  Another good thing was having the breakfast included with the room so I helped myself to that $Free.99 meal which was well worth the price.  What wasn’t such a good thing was us running out of the herbal essence.  Hopefully...

Tales From The Road 2012 - Rock On The Range -...
Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of “Tales From The Road”.  It’s been a while since I’ve written any new tour journals and there definitely have been a lot of things that’s happened in between then and now but since Cypress is about to go on a lengthy tour, I thought it was time to get back into writing mode.  This touring season is going to take...

Tales From The Road 2011 : Lima, Peru
Cypress Hill was finally after a long wait returning to South America for our tour with The Deftones. It’s been over 10 years to be exact. I always enjoy going to S. America because I can strongly identify with the culture and the fans are some of the best in the world. Our first stop was Lima, Peru & it will be our first time there. We were performing at the Urban Music Fest with Calle 13,...

Tales From The Road – Brixton Academy – London,...
Every time we have played Brixton Academy & we have played here a lot throughout the years, its always been off the hook. This venue is the equivelent to the Fillmore in San Francisco with the fact that so many iconic groups have played here. Its almost like if you haven’t played Brixton, you haven’t really made an impact in London. Even though it isn’t in the best neighborhood, but...

Tales From The Road - Melkweg - Amsterdam, Holland...
What can I say about Amsterdam that hasn’t already been said? It is definitely one of my favorite European cities & it isn’t just because of the obvious. From the coffeeshops to the food, Amsterdam has a lot of culture. Now, this isn’t going to be a history lesson about Holland but if you have never been to Amsterdam, whether you smoke the herbals or not, you should...

Tales From The Road - Skabazac Festival - Rodez,...
After a night like last night, I was pretty much ready for anything. We were returning back to France but we would be south of Paris in a town called Rodez. We first got to the hotel, which we again had day rooms but we all got our own, which was more convienient that just having 3 or four & having to share. We drove straight to the gig to drop off both the crew and park the bus. We then had...

Tales From The Road - Rock In Rio - Madrid, Spain...
I had happened to wake up early while we were driving to Madrid & I was able to check out the Spanish countryside, which I must say is very picturesque. I decided to indulge in a little wake & bake & was thinking about how good the tour has been going thus far. With some great shows behind us this early in our world tour, I can only look forward to what is gonna come our way. We...

Tales From The Road - Razamatazz - Barcelona,...
For some reason, I woke up early on the bus & we weren’t at the next stop yet. The bunks are going through some temperature changes because it sometimes get a little too hot or stuffy yet the hallway in the bunk area is freezing. The last place you ever want to get sick at is on the road. Besides not getting the proper rest, when one person is sick on the bus, everyone is gonna get it...

Tales From The Road - Club 101 - El Paso, TX....
I was ready to leave Odessa to get to El Paso.  Don’t get me wrong, the fans & show were cool but I think it was just too much nothingness out there for me.  In any case, it was time to move on to our last stop in Texas. We originally were going to Tucson, AZ., but due to the stupid immigration law put in place recently, we as a band decided to not do the show & boycott AZ.  Granted, we...

Tales From The Road - La Cigale - Paris, France...
I don’t know about anyone else in the group but I really like Paris.  I know that Paris has a stereotype of having rude people, but there’s rude people everywhere.  There is just something about the city that makes me really enjoy being there.  Also, there are a lot of Cypress fans in France.  This show was gonna be our first club show out there in a while so everyone was hyped up.  We had a day...

Tales From The Road - Columbiahalle - Berlin,...
Berlin has always been a good city for us and it is a fun city too.  Its been a while since we’ve done a show out here so I knew that people were gonna come out.  The minute that we pulled into the venue, I immediately recognized it.  I’ve played here with both CH & the Beasties.  Since there wasn’t too much to do until soundcheck, I just chilled out on the bus.  I only left the bus for...

Tales From The Road - Rock im Park - Nurnberg,...
This festival is one of the big ones here in Europe.  There are so many summer festivals out here, its crazy.  You can spend the whole summer out here & still not hit all the festivals that are going around.  We have been fortunate throughout our career to have played the majority of the Euro festivals & I will say that I really enjoy them.  The U.S. is still playing catch up with their...

Neuchatel is a small quiet town in Switzerland & I must say that its a very beautiful place. When we got there, it was a little overcast & cold. Our hotel is right on the water so that made it even more cold. Luckily, the venue is walking distance from the hotel. I can actually see it from my room. A few of us went to check out the festival. Some singer named Mika was headlining. I heard...

After a good first show, it was off to Prague.  Prague is a very beautiful city with lots of statues & cool architecture.  Its a shame that we really didn’t have tine to explore the city but if you ever get a chance to go there, go check it out.  Sometimes on tour, we just go straight to the gig without having a hotel.  Tonight’s show is at the O2 Arena, which is owned by the same people that...

Back again with another edition of “Tales From The Road”.  This time around, we are doing a European tour so I’m sure there’s gonna be some fun & funny moments that I’ll have to share.  When B & I would write our “Soldier Stories” back in the day, the stories that would stick out to me would be the ones from Europe.  I’m not trying to over hype these upcoming stories but I have a feeling...

This festival is the big brother festival to Rock am Park.  We learned that this is the 25th anniversary for this festival.  We’ve played this festival before but from what we were told, it was in back in 1999.  Its basically the same line up as Rock Im Park since they are related shows.  Today, we would be playing with Rise Against & Rammstein.  Now, the size of this festival is...

With the Tucson, AZ. show cancelled, it was gonna be a long ride from El Paso to Las Vegas.  This is when you take advantage of that good sleep you get in the bunk, or at least that’s how it is for me.  I know that Julio G. would agree with me.  Everyone was up on the bus for a while having drinks & toking it up.  One by one, everyone was going to their bunk.  Dougie, my drum tech &...

We left after the show to Odessa, which was about 5 or so hours. It was our second day off of the tour. All I know is that when I woke up, we were in Odessa. Getting off the bus, I felt like I was in the middle of nowhere. What a place to spend your day off. No disrespect to the people of Odessa. The view from my room was hillarious. There was nothing but off to the left was this huge place called...

I am really liking these late lobby calls as opposed to the 5 & 6 am lobby calls that usually happen. These are only happening because the drives between towns have been 4 hours or less. I’ll take what I can get. When I saw on the schedule that we would be playing Corpus Cristi, the first thing I thought about was that this is where Selena is from. Now, its not like I was the hugest fan or...

Tales From The Road – The Scout Bar – San Antonio,...
We rolled into San Antonio and it was a wet mess. What a day off!! At least we were right across the street from the River Court Mall or something like that. There was talk of going to Fogo de Chao for dinner. For those who don’t know, its a Brazilian BBQ steakhouse. Basically, we were close to whatever we needed so rain really wouldn’t be a factor. In the middle of the day, the rain finally...

got up relatively early even though I didn’t have to.  We didn’t have that long of a drive to Austin from Dallas so we didn’t leave until the early afternoon.  After getting a workout in, I started to get my stuff together so I could just chill on the bus.  What I didn’t realize is that our “haunted” hotel was right down the street from where JFK was...

We had a late check out from Houston so when we got to Dallas, the bus first dropped off me, B & Sen while the crew went to the venue to set up.  Originally, we weren’t going to stay in Dallas, but there was a last minute change of plans.  The ride was way too short to get to Dallas & sleep on the bus until check it.  I mean I love the bus but when a king size bed is waiting for you,...

Going into the "Tales From The Road" Vault
Hello all, It’s been a minute since I’ve been on Tumblr but after coming across some old journals from touring, I’ve decided to post them up for you before the new batch of stories get posted.  The stories I found are from 2010 and 2011 so they aren’t that old but they are still a good read so I hope you all enjoy them and feel free to leave comments.  I will be posting a...
